Round table for the establishment of an institutional network of support to witnesses / victims held in Doboj

Agency for Cooperation, Education and Development ACED Banja Luka, together with its project partners UG,,Vive žene “- Tuzla, UG ,, Medica” – Zenica and the Foundation ,, Udružene žene “Banja Luka, on 22.07.2015. organized the roundtable in Doboj with the aim to establish institutional network to support victims / witnesses in the Doboj region.
The roundtable was organized within the project ,, Ensuring access to justice for victims / witnesses through strenghtening existing and establishing new witness support networks across Bosnia and Herzegovina “funded by the European Union. The aim of this project is to establish 8 new and strengthened 6 existing network to support victims / witnesses in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In addition to members of the project team, the roundtable was attended by representatives of the district court, district attorney’s office, social welfare centers, mental health centers, as well as representatives of non-governmental organizations in the Doboj region. The participants were presented the project objectives, experience of partner organizations working with victims / witnesses in criminal proceedings, and the plan of establishing and strengthening networks.

During the discussions with the participants of the round table it was concluded that projects like this are welcome, because the system required a multidisciplinary approach in dealing with victims / witnesses. It was also concluded that the necessary personnel and technical training of the representatives of the institutions in terms of sensitized approach and continuous training of the actors of the future network.
