Banja Luka: Marking the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture

International Day in Support of Victims of Torture has been marked these days by the Association “Vive Zene, Tuzla, Association “Medica” Zenica, Agency for Cooperation, Education and Development ACED Banja Luka and Foundation “Udruzene Zene” Banja Luka, as a part of the project, financed by European Union, “Ensuring Access to Justice for Witnesses/Victims through Strengthening Existing and Establishing New Witness Support Networks across BiH”.

Joint message: ‘For the World without Torture!’ organizers have sent from several BiH towns: Tuzla, Zenica, Banja Luka, Bihać, Ključ, Mostar, Novi Travnika and Goražde.

On 26th of June in Banja Luka, Agency for Cooperation, Education and Development ACED and Foundation “Udruzene Zene” has marked the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture at Krajina Square by organizing an event, lasting from 11.00 AM – 1.00 PM, and distributing promotional material. The event was also joined by public figures: Sandra Ljubojević – RS National Theatre actress; Dejan Zorić – actor of the “Jazavac” theatre and a musician from “Aifel” band and Vladimir Branković – ex-handball player and the director of the Handball Club “Borac”.

After the event held on Krajina Square, organized was a round table in the Youth Centre and the topic of the round table was a torture. Participants were members of institutional networks for the support to witnesses in the area of Banja Luka town, as well as representatives of other non-governmental organizations.

As a part of the event, in the Youth Centre, organized was also a workshop for youth, moderated by Novica Bogdanovic from DIS Youth Theatre.

The overall goal of all activities related to marking of the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture was to raise awareness of citizens on the problem of torture in our society.
