Regional conference of BIDF network held in Teslic

Agency for cooperation, education and development ACED Banja Luka and Balkans independent disability framework (BIDF network), the event was organised in Teslic on 29 and 30 September, a two-day regional conference in the framework of the project “Establishing a Balkan independent disability framework” , which is funded by the European Union.

At the conference participated organizations persons with disabilities, members BIDF network, from the three countries in the region: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro.

First day of the conference was presented a report “Guidelines and recommendations for harmonisation legislation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro with the UN Convention on the rights of persons with disabilities” .This document was presented by the coordinators of working groups from 3 countries and it is in these areas: accessibility, education, health care, labor and employment and the appropriate standards of living and social protection. The Report has been drafted on the basis of detailed analysis compliance legislative framework with the UN Convention on the rights people with disabilities in all three countries, as well as the analysis of implementing these legislative framework. The document are incorporated into guidelines and recommendations for harmonising legal framework with the mentioned UN convention stemmed from performed analysis.

General conclusion all participants of the conference was that the analysis are very good and that they are incorporated into significant and quality guidelines and recommendations for the further harmonize its legislation with the UN Convention, which makes this document complete and high quality. It was concluded that the legislative framework in the flicked extent harmonized with convention in all three states, but that it is their implementation at extremely low level, and that in the future should deal with this segment.
One of the conclusions is that BIDF network has a leading role in the disability movement in region of the Balkans, and that must be strengthened capacities, in their own network and its member states, in order to improving the position people with disabilities in the region, and ascertain that respect for their human rights.

Second day of the conference was predominantly were implemented activities BIDF network in the past period. Workshops and trainings for the strengthening of capacities were held  in the three member states network project countries.
Action plan of the work BIDF network was presented for the next period of time that includes activities to further develop the capacities network, but and the development strategy to improve the position of people with disabilities at the national level.
