12 trainings organized for representatives of secondary school students in BiH

Twelve (12) interreligious trainings for secondary school students were organized during October and November 2018 and attended by more than 230 participants.  The trainings were organized in Cazin, Šipovo, Tešanj, Bugojno, Živinice, Sarajevo, Mostar, Livno, Doboj, Bijeljina, Prijedor and Trebinje.

During the trainings participants had opportunity to learn about world religions with special focus at religions of peoples in BiH, using the unique “The Children of Abraham” methodology.

Religion, as significant factor of reconciliation, was the main topic of the trainings. While learning about common stories from Bible and Qur’an, the students had opportunity to analyze religious context of Bosnia and Herzegovina in light of reconciliation and coexistence. The evident motivation of participants and great number of reconciliation activities students created spontaneously during their work, indicate the need for inter-religious dialogue that proves to be in significant deficit in the education system in BiH.

The activities were organized within the project “Youth reconciliation initiative for sustainable peace”. We are grateful for Canada’s contribution to this project through the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI).
