Stories from Untoldville civic debates continue

The BiH Student Council Network continues to organise and carry out the Stories form Untoldville civic debates under the Youth Empowerment and Development Initiative.

Civic debates will be carried out in several BiH towns in cooperation with the Agency for Cooperation, Education and Development (ACED) from Banja Luka. The first debates will be held as early as next week, in Bihać on 26 August 2020, in Zenica on 28 August and in Sarajevo on 29 August.

The civic debates are workshops that will offer interested participants a possibility to discuss in a stimulating environment various popular social and psychological topics including the role of citizens, and their own different perspectives of numerous roles of citizens: as pupils and students, employed workers and collaborators, volunteers, the unemployed, cousins, spouses, parents, neighbours or passers-by in streets, as socio-political collocutors, participants in cultural events, voters, leaders and managers in their organisations, sports fans and activists, etc.

Every workshop is organised and designed so that participants can reflect and share their opinions on various views and experiences and talk about all kinds of personal experiences.

The goal of the debates is for participants to discuss through constructive dialogue and in a safe and stimulating atmosphere day-to-day problems, even some sensitive ones, which they would not talk about out of fear or some other reason. In addition, participants will be able to discuss and share opinions among themselves, thus trying to create an environment in which we respect diversity and acknowledge others and different opinions, and also show that as active citizens we act to change the social perception and encourage others to engage proactively.

Unlike the first series, when the debates were held via the Zoom video platform, the second series of debates will be held live in several BiH towns. They will take place in August and September of 2020.
