New online debate: A look back at the war in BiH 25 years later and what lessons have been learned

The new civic debate “Stories from Untoldville” was held on Friday, 12 June via the online platform ZOOM Meetings. In addition to the staff from the BiH Student Council Network, Ajla Mahmutović and Majda Hidić, and moderator Tarik Halilović, the civic debate was attended by 20 other participants from different parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The beginning of the debate included introductory remarks and getting to know each of the participants. Then followed the main part of this activity. The debate began with a discussion about the survey that the participants were obliged to fill out, concerning the subjective views on the war in BiH during the 1990s, and its participants. After a short discussion on this topic, the participants were randomly divided into six smaller groups with the task of exchanging views on the three most current topics in the world and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The groups had ten minutes to find examples from their environment, region or world together, and then returned to the main room, where each group presented their examples, with comments from other participants.

This was followed by the last part of the debate, where participants exchanged views and talked about their impressions. They expressed satisfaction with the debate held and pointed out that they were interested in similar activities with some other topics.
